Q: has anyone took micardis 40 and had leg cramps from it?
my dr took me off lisinopril because of very bad cough cough is gone now my calf muscles are cramped

A: Telmisartan is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Telmisartan is in a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It works by blocking the action of certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly.
Telmisartan may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
* runny nose
* sore throat
* back pain
* sinus pain
* diarrhea
Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:
* swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
* hoarseness
* difficulty breathing or swallowing
* fainting
Telmisartan may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication.

Q: can you take micardis when you scuba dive?

A: This is a medical question that should be directed to your personal physician especially since it is a medication that affects your body’s circulatory system.

As a scuba instructorfor http://www.visibilityunlimited.com, I know that people have to fill out a medical form prior to enrolling in any scuba course and everywhere that I have been diving also requires that a medical form be filled out before they will take you out diving.

If your doctor has any questions you can have him or her call D.A.N. (the divers alert network) whose staff is trained in dive medicine.

Q: What is the best way to lower high blood pressure?
My husband has high blood pressure and been prescribed Crestor & Micardis. But, due to high costs, we are unable to afford his medications. What are YOUR food suggestions? Everyone always say “diet and exercise” and we know that. My husband does not have a problem with his weight. He’s 38 years old, 165lbs., 5′7″ tall. He’s still muscular (somewhat) due to years of body building. His siblings (all under 45 years old) & parents are all under medication for high blood pressure & high cholesterol.

A: naturally stay off caffeine and salt

but I add the following to my diet

bananas – we need added potassium to keep our electrolytes balanced

celery – I eat 4 stalks a day because one mans bp dropped 50 points in a few weeks doing this

1tablespoon Apple cider Vinegar in warm water and honey

eat oatmeal for breakfast

of course drink water

add walking to his regiment

Q: Can I use hawthorne berry extract with blood pressure meds?
I want to try to get off Micardis and control my blood pressure with herbal remedies.

A: Good idea, but i would consult your doctor first as because hawthorne already itself has blood pressure lowering effects on the heart the combination could lower your bp a bit too much. Try looking up some of the following on the internet as i know they are all surpose to be good for your heart & helping lower your blood pressure. Motherwart, garlic, selenium, magnesium, calcium. Good luck

Q: what is micardis blood presure pills?

Q: Blood pressure treatment? norvasc? micardis?
Hey guys im 25 years old, I have blood pressure, I’m currently on a micardis 40, and a norvasc 2.5 (half of a 5 tablet). The doctor has recommended that i get off my norvasc, because there shouldn’t be a problem with 1 medication holding me for the entire day. But last time I had to add a norvasc because i noticed during night times the micardis would stop working and as I’m sleeping my blood pressure would go high. Then id wake up and feel very weird and unwell.

I’m a little anxious about discontinuing treatment, has anyone stopped a hypertensive before? what happens if my blood pressure goes back up again suddenly? Is there a coming off effect for my medication i should be aware off? and if my bp raises during my discontinuation, do i just wait until i see the doctor or should i treat it? or should I treat it right away?

Ive more or less been ignoring my condition as my blood pressure has been good, and over the last few months even a little low, like 96/58. At the moment its about 115/75 with rest, what would be the expected number for my bp after i discontinue my norvasc? what happens if i feel very ill and symptomatic? is that normal?

How long does it take for me to see the effects of me stopping my hypertensive?? days? hours?

I also notice that last time when i was not on hypertensive medication i feelt very heavy and almost as if my body was revved up, could this be all caused from some type of underlying psychological illness that i have no control over? or do people feel very revved up, and hot and cold in certain parts of their body, tingling and dis balanced when they stop all their hypertensive treatment?

Best answer is to anyone who can give me a detailed reply to all my questions. If you copy and paste i will simply ignore your reply.

A: Micardis plus Norvasc is a combination pill of two blood pressure drugs already. These two medications have few interactions, obviously. Note that all drugs have side effects (every medication has side effects!). Be sure to discuss with your doctor the benefits and side effects of all of the above!-Micardis plus Norvasc-

The issue of whether a genuine hypertensive treatment can ever become normal is critically reviewed by researchers.Factors that predict a successful withdrawl of hypertensive medications are young age, normal body weight, low salt intake, low pretreatment blood pressure, successful therapy with one drug, and only minimal signs of target organ damage.
Do you have all these factors? You are very young,working together with your doctor,a successful medications withdrawl can be reach it. Good luck! Take care always!

Q: Which has the least side effect? Altace, Micardis, Coversyl?

A: Hi Jessica
I don’ t think I can really answer that one for you because it very much depends on each individual person.

Some people feel absolutely fine on all three of these drugs. Some react badly to all three.

Most people will be comfortable on one or two of them but not the other. There’s no way to predict who is going to react and in what way. You really just need to try each drug and see how it goes.

None of them normally have serious side effects and if side effects do occur they normally go away again after only a day or so of stopping the medication.

I hope this helps – sorry I can’t be more specific.

Best regards
Gordon

Q: What is the best PPO plan for married couple?
My wife’s 28 years old & I am 39. We currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are self-employed (means struggling). My wife is relatively healthy but I have high blood pressure & a history of high blood pressure runs in my family. My doctor has put me on Crestor & Micardis but due to the cost – we have decided to stop purchasing my medications. My wife recently had a urinary infection and went to the doctor’s. Her hospital/doctor’s bill minus the Blue Cross “help” totalled $1000. Now my share of the hospital/doctor’s bill $3501.77 (of course Blue Cross paid the $1.77). Now we’re swamped with hospital bills are reluctant to even visit the doctor’s again. Our premium is approximately $200 per month for both of us. What is a better PPO for us??? Or is it even worth it to have a health insurance? We love children but now are seriously contemplating on not having children.

A: In my opinion, you should instead consider a HMO plan. While it’s true you’ll be restricted to seeing doctors in the HMO network, you’ll also be protected from facing this type of bill again. This is because the HMO will pay the provider a fee and you will not be balance billed for anything other than your co-pay.

Q: help,,who is better as a treatment for the main blood pressure,the medisene (micardis)80mg,or (atacand) 16mg?

A: Only your doctor can determine the best medication for high blood presure. Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 tries of different medications before finding the one that works for you. Everyone is different.
