Felodipine

For more information check out: Felodipine today!

Q: does the blood pressure pill felodipine have water pills in it?

A: Felodipine is what is known as a calcium channel blocker. Calcium channel blockers slow the rate at which calcium passes into the heart muscle and into the vessel walls, thus relaxing and widening blood vessels so blood can flow more easily, thus lowering blood pressure.

It is not, and does not contain, a water pill (a diuretic).

Diuretics also treat high blood pressure, although in a different way. They cause the body to rid excess salt and fluid.

Q: what you think is felodipine? i think itaken to lower hypertension and why others say it anti -deppresant?

A: Unless you intend to marry felodipine, you posted in the wrong catagory.

Q: been on 10mg felodipine tablets for 8 days got swollen ankles do i need two worry?

A: Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: swelling of the hands/ankles/feet (edema).

That is from the drug label of felodipine. Swelling of the ankles can be an early warning sign of congestive heart failure, so it’s important for you to go to your doctor ASAP (today), and if you can’t get in today because of the holiday, then go to your local emergency room to seek treatment.

Q: what is felodipine used for?

A: Felodipine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). Angina occurs when the heart muscles do not receive enough oxygen.
Felodipine works by relaxing and opening up the blood vessels. This allows blood to circulate more freely around the body, lowering blood pressure and allowing the heart to work more efficiently.

Felodipine is available in modified release tablet form. Modified release preparations are released slowly over the day to give a more even effect.

It is also sometimes known as: Plendil. You may notice the use of any of these names on the packaging of your medicine.

Q: does felodipine-5mg contain a diuretic?

A: No

Felodipine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Felodipine is known as a calcium channel blocker. By blocking calcium, this medication relaxes and widens blood vessels so blood can flow more easily.

Q: Is this situation normal for people my age?
I am 60 years old. Nowadays, if i feel urinating, the urine is already flowing before i could open my my pants or before i reach the toilet. I have been diagnosed to have high blood sugar and high blood pressure. I am on maintenance with Felodipine for high blood and metformin for high blood sugar. Do these two drugs complement each other? Do they cause impotence too?

A: Sounds like you have a prostate problem, see your Dr.
A 60 year old taking medications for high blood pressure and diabetes is common, if you have concerns about them ask your pharmacist.
Both high blood pressure and diabetes can cause impotence, but so can other things. Again check with your Dr.
I am 62, have both diabetes and high blood pressure. A few years ago, I started having erection problems, saw my Doc, turns out my testosterone level was down, a normal effect of aging. I give myself testosterone injections once a month and now have erections like a 17 year old.
good luck

Q: i know felodipine is to treat high blood pressure for am given prescription by my doctor and why some said it?
anti – depressant?

A: I’ve just read through the entire pharmacology and there is nothing there indicating the use of the drug as an anti-depressant.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the person misunderstood the latter half of the name “DIPINE” and confused it with dopamine…which is a drug used for treatment of several mental ailments including, but not limited to Parkinson’s.

A: So sorry to hear of your plight
Give it time to settle down…get the blood pressure under control and get the rest your body is telling you it needs…I know its horrible not being able to go to work and feel normal …its funny how we moan about having to go to work ..but when we cant go we so desperately want to go back….2 years ago i suffered a stroke due to a small hemorrhage in my brain…I now have to take blood pressure medication and i hate taking them but if it stops me from having another hemorrhage then its worth it …It took my system 6 months to get used to the meds well enough so i could go back to work …even then i did a gradual return….
Hope you get well again soon
